Hi, I’m Kirsty Powell, and I’m passionate about helping women, especially those going through pre- and menopause, experience the incredible benefits of strength training, yoga and mobility work.
With over 10 years of experience as a personal trainer and a background as an elite athlete in Judo, I’ve spent my life immersed in health, fitness, and nutrition to ensure I could compete at the highest levels. Now, my mission is to empower women, especially those in midlife, to take control of their health and feel strong, confident, and resilient.
I was inspired to focus on women in pre- and menopause after witnessing my own mother struggle through this stage of life without the support she needed. I understand how difficult this transition can be — from fluctuating hormones to mood changes, fatigue, and physical discomfort. But through my own research and experience, I discovered that strength training can be a game-changer for women at this stage. It’s not just about building muscle; it’s about building confidence, enhancing quality of life, and taking control of our well-being.
The Benefits of Strength Training During Menopause:
- Stronger Bones: Strength training helps combat the bone density loss that can occur during menopause, reducing the risk of osteoporosis.
- Improved Sleep: Regular exercise can help you sleep better and wake up feeling more refreshed.
- Reduced Hot Flashes: Studies have shown that consistent exercise, including strength training, may help reduce the frequency and severity of hot flashes.
- Better Cardiovascular Health: Strength training boosts cardiovascular endurance, helping to protect against heart disease, which becomes more of a concern as we age.
- Increased Energy Levels: Many women report feeling less tired and more energized, even on the toughest days.
- Mood Enhancement: Exercise releases endorphins, helping you feel happier and more balanced during what can be an emotional time.
- Improved Mobility and Flexibility: Through a combination of strength and mobility work, you’ll move better and feel more agile in your everyday life.
- Help with the middle aged weight gain- The more muscle you have the more calories your body needs at rest which will result in a change of body composition.
But perhaps the most important benefit of strength training is how it transformed me mentally and emotionally. As I became physically stronger, I noticed a profound shift in my mindset and emotional resilience.
“One of the best things about lifting weights is that it teaches you to believe in your ability to tackle tough challenges, and that belief spills over into every area of your life.”
Now, when life throws its inevitable curveballs, I feel confident that I can handle them. I know I have the inner and outer strength to push through. By strengthening my body, I unknowingly strengthened my mind as well, and that has been life-changing.
This combination of mental and physical strength is why I’m so passionate about sharing what I’ve learned with others. I want to help more people experience the same incredible boost in health, confidence, and happiness that strength training has given me.
Having had to manage my weight in Judo, where competition is divided into weight classes, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how to fuel the body efficiently with nutrition to stay strong and perform at your best, without depriving yourself.
This knowledge helps me debunk the myths and fads surrounding women’s nutrition and weight management, so you can focus on feeling good rather than chasing quick fixes.
Through strength training, combined with my expertise in yoga and mobility work, I will help you build a stronger body that moves with ease, empowering you to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
My goal is to help women live better, stronger, and healthier lives – especially during the transitional years of menopause.
